I created this website ‘ForexFreshmen’ to give beginner traders a free resource to learn the ins and outs of forex.

Forex is a vast and widely discussed topic online which means there can be a lot of misinformation spread about how forex works and how to learn forex trading.

Understandably, a question I see asked a lot is “How long does it take to learn forex trading?“

Another one I see is, “How long does it take to master forex trading?“

The answer, in short, is that it can take a while to learn forex trading.

So, how long does it take to learn forex trading?

It really depends on how much time you put in and the resources you decide to use.

Naturally, investing in a forex course will help you much more than watching free videos on Youtube (although, those are great also).

The reason paying for a forex course helps so much is because it tends to give you all the knowledge you need as efficiently as possible.

That said, you can learn how to trade forex just fine with the content offered for free on the internet.

So, how long does it take to learn forex trading?

In my opinion, it should take new forex traders 3-6 months to become adequate traders.

By adequate, I mean you can start putting in real money and time into trading and if you’ve put in the time, then you can start making a profit.

A big mistake people make is investing real money into forex trading before they are ready.

The reality is that the majority of forex traders lose money.

So, it’s absolutely necessary to put in lots of work and time in order to learn how forex works and, more importantly, how to make money from it.

3-6 months is a reasonable amount of time to learn forex trading.

That said, there are ways to cut this time in half, although it means you might have to spend a bit of money for a course or program.

Forex, as mentioned, is huge. There are thousands (maybe millions) of websites, like the one you’re reading right now, solely based on forex trading and how it works.

There are forex websites on

general knowledge
strategy
broker websites
forex courses
and much more.

With the overload of information, it can be difficult to cut through the nonsense and get real information.

This is why it’s such a commonly misconstrued topic – how long does it really take to learn forex trading?

Learning forex really just consists of 1) basic forex knowledge and then 2) forex trading strategies.

You should aim to cover basic forex knowledge in ~3 months and then another ~3 months for strategy.

Although you really never stop learning strategy – it is a continuous process.

Another big thing to remember is to avoid crappy, scammy forex products – you will lose time and money that can be spent learning actual valuable knowledge.

Have you seen advertisements for forex courses promising to help you make millions of dollars with forex trading in a matter of months?

Or, have you seen ‘traders’ advertising their personal programs so that you can follow them and see how forex trading is done?

Have you heard of ‘forex robots’ that will automatically make you hundreds of thousands of dollars while you sleep?

These are just some of the forex scams that are so widespread on the internet – this is why there is so much confusion about whether forex is legit or not.

In order to learn forex, you need to avoid all these scams and misinformation and get a quality education.

How Long Does it Take to Master Forex Trading?

Mastering forex trading will obviously take a lot longer than simply becoming a decent forex trader.

In the opinion of myself and other ‘pro’ forex traders, you can never master forex trading.

All you can do is constantly read and stay privy to the latest strategies, updates and economic news in the world of forex.
